LOOKBOOK | 21Jun2015: The man in the red-hot shorts

Image
Alone at the bar and no one's serving me drinks. Mornings right before checking out at hotels aren't exactly my favorite, much so when it's just an overnight stay. Last Sunday I got up late and after having breakfast at Nobu Restaurant Manila , spent the remaining hour or so strolling along the deck of the hotel and entertainment complex that is City of Dreams Manila .

FOOD | Dip and spread away with The Goodness Jar

Image
The "foodies" that we are, Kwittiegirl and I are always on the lookout for something new to try. Sure enough The Goodness Jar entered our radar. A fairly new business venture, it's poised to be the perfect companion to your bread, crackers, and chips. At 4oz the jars are quite small but I quickly realized it's just the right size for the product because apart from packing some rich and potent flavors, it has a fairly short shelf life as it has no preservatives. That said, I think it's best to get just one or two variants at a time. Besides, there's just two of us at home.

LOOKBOOK | 20Jun2015: Dreaming in the city

Image
De Niro, Scorsese, and DiCaprio may have wanted in but I was never as keen. It's not the type of place Kwittiegirl and I usually go to but we just spent the weekend at City of Dreams Manila. We left our hotel room for dinner and then went around to see what dreams exactly were here in this little city.

FASHION | Your summer footwear guide

Image
Just as summer presents us with the opportunity to dress lightly and maybe even show a bit more skin, the season also has plenty to offer our feet. Cue some lightweight footwear and let your feet breathe, relax, and enjoy the season just as much as you are. Clockwise from top left: Camden woven loafers from Cole Haan . Birkenstock Arizona super grip sandals. Boat shoes from Sperry . Havaianas flip-flops. Kritonas sandals from Ancient Greek Sandals . Castaner striped canvas Pablo espadrilles. Luca sneakers from SWIMS . Rivieras Tour du Monde Pavillon Zulu slip-ons. Loafers With the right design, loafers are probably the "dressiest" you can go with summer footwear. Well, I don't mean to say that your office lace-ups are a no-no but let's just label them as all year round shoes that, sun or no sun, you'll wear anyway. Casual and comfy, loafers can also double up as driving shoes.

DINING | Pretty, pretty Le Petit Souffle

Image
So I learned that rolling pins come from trees. Cute. Open for about two months now, Le Petit Souffle is a fairly recent addition to Century City Mall's roster of restaurants. We first tried it last April and paid another visit a month later last May. Here's my little, or should I say, petit, review.

LOOKBOOK | 14Jun2015: Sweaty patootie

Image
It was time to hit the road again and head back home. Short vacation's over. That said, the pensive mood and blank stare are understandable, especially when one has to leave this peace and quiet offered by places like Sitio de Amor for the noise and chaos of Metro Manila.

LOOKBOOK | 13Jun2015: Sleeveless in San Pablo

Image
After sporting a dressier weekend outfit the day before I was down to this: a plain tank top and swim shorts. It was as if all my lofty desires of wearing more "dignified" clothing on a weekend were reduced to rubble. Such a lousy getup is surely not befit of the charming and inspired settings I was in that day.

LOOKBOOK | 12Jun2015: Hacienda feels

Image
Just got back from our little trip down south in Laguna. These shots are from our first day there. It's one thing to get myself to go on a long drive and another to make a little effort to not be in a lazy t-shirt and shorts combo on such a trip. After all it was a special day -- Philippine Independence Day, people!

FASHION | The season for short sleeves

Image
It seems that the amount of clothing we wear is inversely proportional to the rise in mercury levels. That said, let's all celebrate summer by ditching those long-sleeve shirts for their sexier short-sleeve counterparts. Here are a few shirts I'm lusting after that you might like, too. KENZO The print is simply divine! Need I say more?

FRAGRANCE | L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme by Issey Miyake

Image
For weeks now I've been alternating between two fragrances I thought were suited for the hot and humid summer here in the tropics. First up is L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme by Issey Miyake. The scent is packaged in a bottle with a slight diagonal twisted design and a matte finish. Though I prefer sturdy and straightforward bottles, I find this somewhat cool and edgy.

PETS | My nightly neighborhood gig

Image
Shortly after leaving our gate last Friday night for an errand, an energetic little kitten appeared out of nowhere and came running toward me. It was the first time I saw him in the neighborhood and of course I was delighted. Full of spunk, this little kitty. After a brief interaction with the little fella I went ahead. But when I came back from the convenience store he came running toward me again. It was like he wanted to play with me or something, so I gladly obliged.
